“Red Rock & Ruins”
Only in Sedona for one or two days but still want to photograph some of Sedona’s iconic locations? Then this workshop is for you!
We will photograph some of the most beautiful Sedona locations, including one rarely visited ancient ruin, along the way we discuss how to approach your composition along with some technical aspects of photography. I feel like my strength in photography has always been “seeing” the world and the subjects I shoot in a little bit of a different way. I like to teach my students how to “see” and notice the detail that makes up the beauty of a location and Sedona is the perfect place for this. Of course, we will photograph some of the iconic scenes in all of their glory and try to capture some of the detail at the same time, just for a twist on how you may have seen photos of Sedona before. We will start early to capture the warm morning light on the red rock after a quick coffee break we then head over to Boyton Canyon and hike* into the “secret” ruin known as “Lost Ruin” before it gets too hot. Then to beat the heat of midday we will break for lunch or a siesta and then reassemble in the late afternoon for our sunset shoot at one of the Arizona’s most photogenic locations; Red Rock Crossing.
*This workshop requires some rugged hiking on rough trails to a remote ancient ruin while carrying your camera gear. A moderate fitness level is recommended as well as proper footwear. Keep in mind that we will be at an altitude of about 5,000 ft and that can be an issue for some participants.
In an effort to keep my Photo Workshops affordable I try keep them as simple as possible while providing you with a truly rich photo experience that will last for years. We will meet at a specified location in the early morning and carpool to our locations, especially the ones with day fees, this helps to keep the workshop fee lower and locations aren’t too far from each other around Sedona. For more information about this photo workshop please contact me (Cheyenne) @ 435.640.6880 or via email: chey.rouse@gmail.com
If you are interested in taking your photo experience to the next level I also offer an HDR computer class; “Turn your Photos into Fine Art”. In this private class I will show you the techniques that I use to process my photos using HDR with Photomatix software then have you follow on your laptop (with Photomatix software loaded). This informative class is available as an add on to your workshop and can be held in Sedona during our break. If you are going to be in Scottsdale after the workshop I hold the class at Ancient Light Gallery. What gear is required for a shoot like this?
HI Melissa – I would bring a few lenses…..my wide angle (17mm) and my 70-200 lens….those are my two faves and let you capture BOTH the wide scenic vistas as well as the detail. A lightweight tripod is good too……to get those tack sharp shots or if you will be shooting multiple exposures for post processing. And last but not least the most important thing to bring is enthusiasm and a BIG sense of adventure and FUN! I hope to see you!!!!
sounds great! I will be there in June! YAY!
