2013 White Sands Workshop dates are HERE!
August 20th & 21st, 2013
UPDATE: VERY Limited Space – sign up today – you don’t want to miss this magical workshop!
Please be sure to join me on Facebook to stay up to date on my latest workshop dates and news!
Join Fine Art Photographer and Outdoor Photographer Magazine contributor, Cheyenne L Rouse at stunning White Sands National Monument in S New Mexico for this special Full Moon Photo Workshop in August 2013. Come join us for the FULL MOON, lots of FUN & FROLIC and most of all, GREAT PHOTOS, at this amazing scenic splendor that is White Sands National Monument. Glistening milky white dunes made from gypsum - the ancient Tularosa Valley is a dramatic place to spend a few days in the Zen silence of White Sands with your camera.
The workshop starts with a meet and greet in the afternoon of Wednesday, August 20th, 2013 then we will make our way out into the sea of white dunes to our sunset/full moon rise location to shoot the magic as it occurs. The following morning we will meet early and head back into the dunes to shoot not only the sunrise but the moon set then again in the afternoon for the “official” full moon rise and sunset. The night BEFORE the “official” full moon (Aug 20th) is the best time to shoot since the sun sets and moon rises simultaneously making for MAGICAL photos and you will find that White Sands is nothing short of MAGICAL! I will make sure that you maximize your photographic opportunities in the field, my number one priority will be to assist and guide you to the perfect locations at the perfect times and to help you produce the finest images possible. I will be using my own camera in the field for instructional purposes and to lead by example.
If you are ready to take your digital photos to the next level, I am offering this workshop with the option of adding my “Turn your Photos into Fine Art” Photomatix HDR Class to it – this class is approximately 1 1/2 hours and will be held in the afternoon break. For more information on this class please visit our HDR Class page.
To see how magical White Sands is watch my YouTube series; “Cheyenne’s VERY Cool Life” shot last August at White Sands.

Ever since talking to you in Tucson when you spoke at the Jewish center last year I’ve followed you on Facebook etc. and love your work. I too enjoy HDR photography and use both Photomatrix and NIK HDRpro software. I’d planned on visiting White Sands on my own this year but your workshop looks like just the ticket for me, what with getting passes to get in early and late at the monument.
Take a look if you’d like at my website http://desertdreamingphotography and follow the link to Images to SmugMug. You might enjoy the Landscape section and the Electric Paintings of the Southwest.
Please consider including me in your workshop Aug. 1st and 2nd of 2012, this year.
HI Tom – thank you…..I received your email – I will reply in more detail to you there……and I’d LOVE to include you in this workshop!
Hi Cheyenne, After my daughter and I took a private lesson from you last summer, I developed a real passon for HDR photography. I have seen your photos from the White Sands area and always wanted to go there. Please include me in the class you have scheduled this summer. My wife is not a photographer, but would like to come along. If there is a charge for her to attend, what would that be?
Thanks,
Domoore
HI Gary – yes, I had fun working with you and your daughter. She should come to
White Sands as well…it is amazing. I will email you regarding your request to have your wife come along. I look forward to seeing you.
Thanks – Cheyenne
Hi Cheyenne
Can you confirm my registration for the White Sands and HDR workshop?
Frank

Hi Cheyenne,
Just a little info needed for me to decide and sign up:
1. What airport will I need to fly into from Sacramento, CA?
2. How far a drive is it to my destination to the hotel where I would spend the night?
3. How far a drive is it to White Sands from this hotel?
Thanks, David
Hello David – thank you for your message. As far as the White Sands Workshop – you would fly into Las Cruces, New Mexico. The drive from Las Cruces, NM to Alamogordo, NM is just a little over an hour drive…you will pass White Sands on your way…..it is 15 miles from Alamogordo…..there are many hotels, motels and restaurants in the bustling little town of Alamogordo – here is a link for lodging info – http://www.alamogordo.net/lodging/ I usually stay at the very nice Motel 6 or there is a brand new Fairfield Inn across the street from the M6 with great restaurants within walking distance where we all have dinner some nights. Please let me know if you need more information or have any other questions.
Thank you – Cheyenne
Cheyenne, do you still have openings as of May 19?
How many photographers are you taking on this trip?
Regards,
Steve
Steve – Hi – yes, I have a few spots left….I really don’t like more than about 8 participants per workshop if I can help it…this is a VERY popular one and the 3rd year I have done it……I like to keep my workshops small since it is just me leading them and I like it to feel like a fun group of friends out shoot rather than a huge group descending on the dunes…..so yes, I have space……you can sign up right here on my blog…..the spots will probably go FAST so don’t delay if you really want to do this.
Thanks – Cheyenne
