A few screen shots from the class:
“Inspiration. As a photographer, I am always seeking it. Visual inspiration from the Natural World is a wonderful thing. But to be inspired by another photographers work is always exciting. When I first saw the images created by Cheyenne L. Rouse, I was immediately drawn to her unique interpretation of the world around her. Not only does she capture poignant compositions in subtle details, but she can take an ordinary subject and turn it into magic with her use of high dynamic range ( HDR ) techniques. With this inspiration, the Southwest has become and more interesting place to explore and photograph. For one thing, I can’t pass up a classic old vehicle without stopping to do my own HDR interpretation of it. Thanks Cheyenne.” - G. Brad Lewis/Professional Photographer
“Cheyenne, I just finished your online HDR class and it was great…..Thanks again for a wonderful class.” – Ben, California
“I have to tell you how much I am enjoying working on my photographs since I took your “Turn your Photos into Fine Art” HDR course.” - Judy P., Vancouver
“I just finished your new HDR class – awesome! Whenever you’re up in the Pacific NW – that’s the western part of Washington State – be sure to send out a flag about you’re coming! Looking forward to learning more.” – Thomas, WA.

Just purchased and viewed your HDR class. Thank you so much for this valuable learning tool! I can’t wait to take some shots and try it.
Currently I’m using iphoto editing software on my MacBook. I want to purchase Adobe Photoshop CS5 (& possibly Lightroom). When I looked at purchasing the Photomatix software, I had a choice of standalone Photomatix or the bundled software with a Photoshop plugin. Which one will I need if I get Photoshop? It’s confusing!
Thanks,
Terry
HI Terry – I use Photomatix as a standalone…..I also use Lightroom 3 but just have not implemented the “plug-in” feature yet. If you plan on using PS most of the time then get the bundle with the PS plug-in………………. but of course that is a personal choice for your workflow….
thank you for purchasing my class….I hope you picked up some useful tools to help you on your HDR journey!
Cheyenne
Forgot to ask: Can I somehow save your video tutorial for future review ?
HI David – thank you for your email. Currently we don’t offer the class as a download – when you purchase the class you are instantly emailed your own personal access code that is good for 14 days – if you need more time simply contact me and I would be happy to add more time to your code. We have found that 14 days has been more than sufficient for our students to review the 43 minutes class/tutorial.
Thank you – please let me know if you have any other questions.
Cheyenne
is there any free software that i can get from here…?? please share to me…i need to learn…many thanks…
Yes Enggus – there is a FREE PHOTOMATIX trial download that I mention on this page……I also provide a discount code if you want to purchase the software later – “ancientlightphotos” – you will learn how to apply this software to your photos in my online class………………..
can photomatix essentials be used with your tutorial?
thanks, Dave
David – yes, it can but to get the MOST from the class it is best to spend just a little more and use Photomatix PRO…. more features and better results….AND to save you even more $$ on the Pro version use my DISCOUNT CODE to save 15% “AncientLightPhotos” – so why not spend $45 more (with my discount and using PC) and get the full version…you will end up purchasing it anyway should you become a full fledged HDR addict……which is bound to happen!
)
So Cheyenne…??? How much is that desert shot? Will you sign it? I’d love that one…
You Bet Rockrat…….I sign ALL of my photos…….I will reply to your E with pricing soon….thanks!
Cheyenne
Hi Cheyenne,
I’m sad I missed your White Sands class but I was on a business trip so I couldn’t sign up for it. I’m sure you had a blast there and got a lot of nice shots.
My question to the “New HDR 2.0 Class is: Is there an upgrade version since I bought the first one or do I not need it at all?
Best regards,
Franz
Katy, TX
HI Franz – Yes, White Sands was WONDERFUL…..there is nothing MORE magical than shooting the full moon there. I might be offering the White Sands Photo Workshop again next summer…so stay tuned!
As far as my new “HDR Class 2.0″…there is no upgrade but this call does go into more detail with the newest upgrade of Photomatix as well as Lightroom and how I manage my files and watermark my images in my management software………… in my opinion…you can never know TOO much ……;o)
Thanks – Cheyenne
Cheyenne:
I just looked through your class video, and really enjoyed it.
But I still had some questions about HDR.
Several references I looked at on the web suggest preserving maximum detail by taking photos in RAW format, and importing those into Photomatix for HDR processing. From the class video, it appears that you are only importing JPG formatted photos into Photomatix, and outputting JPG formats as well. I know that photographing in JPG format is more convenient and takes less storage space, but are there any other reasons you don’t suggest RAW formats?
You suggest 3 photos separated by 2 stops each, but the AEB for the 3 cameras I have only separates each photo by 1 stop max. Other than buying a better camera, I could either go with that limited range, or manually set the f-stop for the 3 photos at 2-stop separations. Even using a timer for each shot, the latter method might introduce some noise as the camera may get shifted a bit each time I touch it. Which do you think would be the better way to go?
Thanks again for the great course!
John Orman
HI John – wow you have lots of questions. I have always shot jpg and processed in jpg….I DON’T ever suggest JPG or RAW or that one is better than the other…everyone has their own opinion and it is a personal preference like ALL of your artistic decisions…THAT is just the WAY I do it and get the results that I do. I know, GASP…”Cheyenne doesn’t shoot RAW???”…No I don’t…..files are too big and I am going JUST FINE with my manageable jpgs….that is my reason….no big techie reason at all.
It is best to shoot your photos more than one stop apart…I am not sure what camera you are shooting with but you will get better results. If you recall I do show you in the class how to make an HDR from one photo…………..but this is not the way that I would suggest for all of your HDR work ….the best results come from bracketed photos from your camera….perhaps it’s time to upgrade to a camera with more AEB capability!
Thanks again and enjoy HDR-ing!
